Back in print for a heavily revamped 2nd edition, Paupers' Ladder sees you returning to Brighthelm for a deeper adventure.
Filled with new places to explore, people to help, equipment to buy and recipes to learn, this new edition of the game now includes 8 Bird companions instead of the original 4, and adds a new game mode: Survival, where your characters can be injured from fighting hazards. Take too many injuries and it's off to the city healers to restore your vigour.
Paupers' Ladder has had some lovely reviews and awards since it first came out in 2019. It's been a privilege to be able to bring it back for a second round.
Paupers' Ladder is an open world above-ground game of exploration and adventure for 1-4 players. Taking the role of a Pauper in Garolium's tournament, you and your faithful Bird companion travel the length and breadth of Brighthelm, amassing the fame and fortune you need to learn any 3 of the 5 Virtues.
Will you earn Gems to donate in the name of generosity, or take to the wild regions to fight a variety of creatures in pursuit of bravery and magnificence? If the quiter life of a chemist appeals, you can forage for the rare ingredients needed to learn powerful recipes and the virtue of knowledge. And if you're keen to help others in the name of fellowship, you can take on a variety of quests that will take you to one edge of the realm and back again.
